Founded in 2017, Grain Studio started with a love for handmade notebooks and grew into a community of artists and creatives with South Sudanese refugee artisans at its heart.

Our Mission
Our Journey
2017.launched our first collection of handmade notebooks to start testing the market.
2018-2019/Slowly expanded our production capacity & product lines. Started collaborating with local brands.
2020-2022/Moved into our first stand alone studio space, launched our website. With a more established workshop, we welcomed Roy, our first artisan.
2023-2024/Before we decided to close our doors in 2024, we had reached crafting over 4000 handmade books for creatives, gifts, corporates & more.
mindful - We practice slow, intentional production, ensuring each creation benefits both maker and environment. Using sustainable materials and reducing waste, we align with conscious consumption, respecting the planet and the future.
handful - We believe in the handmade. Every product is crafted with care, using traditional bookbinding techniques that emphasize precision and skill. Our artisans create companions that are both beautiful and purposeful.
heartful - Our studio is a space where people find empowerment through creativity. It’s a supportive community where collaboration and growth thrive, with every artisan contributing to shared success.
